Streaming Screams
Warnings for spoilers and mature content DO YOU LIKE SCARY MOVIES? We know you do, and so do we! We are Glenn and Jess, besties and drive-in mutants, with a shared passion for the macabre, the grotesque and the ridiculous. When you’re home alone on those dark and stormy nights, we’ll let you know where you can tune in and find a chill to run up your spine. Every month we’ll watch and discuss two horror movies that you can watch at home, alone or with that special someone or someTHING. We connect deeply with horror movies, which is a little disturbing if you think about it. So, we go off on plenty of tangents, side chats and rants along the way, before passing our final judgments and letting you know where you can find these terrifying treasures. What kind of horror movies do we cover? Why, anything you can stream! From the dawn of Hollywood to today. From the grindhouse to the arthouse, from slashers to found footage, from serial killers to haunted houses, and from comedy to the truly deranged, if it’s on the net for you, it’s on the slab for us. We’ll unleash new episodes on the 1st Thursday of every month, so please, enter freely, of your own will, and leave some of the happiness you bring. JOIN US.

Romance is Dead
Valentine's day is almost here and love is in the air! Or is that blood? Either way, hearts are involved and they’re gonna break when we sit down to chat about
HEART EYES
We set out to deconstruct this deconstruction of romantic comedies and horror movies alike as we ask, “how does Heart Eyes stack up as a slasher? How does it work as a comedy?” We compare it to other horror comedies and discuss what makes for a good horror comedy and good satire. We discuss acting approaches and whether the movie contributes to the stigmatization of kink in pop culture. We talk about the use of meta-contextualization in modern horror and satire and how it applies to Heart Eyes.
Along the way we talk about new Rob Zombie music, YouTube comments, Jason Statham, The Fast and the Furious, Dropout, the connections between Heart Eyes and Evil Dead Rise, Vampires Kiss, Nicolas Cage and Scream.
So, pour some champagne, light some candles, cuddle up with someone you love, and find out whether or not you should swipe right on Heart Eyes in this romantic episode of STREAMING SCREAMS!

Forever Alone
Osgood Perkins has been killing it lately, so we thought we'd go back and revisit his first film:
THE BLACKCOAT'S DAUGHTER
A stark, bleak, and sometimes challenging movie that Jess had been harassing Glenn to watch for years, so you KNOW we had stuff to say about it. Also, we take a slightly different approach to our podcast format.
And we get pretty wild along the way. Jess informs us what percentage of sheep are gay. We live up to the stereotype of Americans and geographical knowledge. Glenn gets unreasonably angry at the Stranger Things finale. We actually get into politics and the current situation in the US, and we compare and contrast Osgood Perkins with David Lynch. All of this with a new format focusing much more on how we feel about a film and dialing back what happens in the film. All on this wild episode of STREAMING SCREAMS!

Here's a bonus clip of Glenn and Jess discussing music, particularly new music. This was cut from our discussion of The Signal.
We thought it was a fun clip, but ran longer than our usual diversions and didn't fit the rest of the episode, but it's still a fun chat and we thought you should have the option to hear it!

Happy New Year!
We're back, baby! And to ring in the new year, we've pulled out an old gem from 2007:
THE SIGNAL
Featuring a story that changes perspectives and tones as well as writer/directors with each act, this one is both weird and divisive. So how do WE feel about this mid-00s oddity? Pop open the bubbly and come find out as we dive into mid-00s madness!

Where Turkeys Dare
In 2007, one of the greatest fake movie trailers ever hit the big screen as part of the Grindhouse double feature. In 2023, Eli Roth finally made good on his promise to make the movie to go along with the trailer, and so with fall in full swing, we sit down for:
THANKSGIVING
On this day we give thanks for horror and tackle the tough questions: Does the film live up to the promise of the original trailer? What happens when a local store owner’s greed gets people killed? Do you prefer light meat or dark meat?
Along the way we’ll discuss righteous anger, ghosting your friends, the differences between the original grindhouse trailer and we’ll even start the programming off doing what everyone hates doing at Thanksgiving, but ends up doing anyway, talking politics.
Please note, we’ll be taking December off for the Holidays, so this will be our final episode of the year. We’ll be back in January with fresh horrors! We hope you have some bloody good holidays!

Tricks and Treats
HAPPY HALLOWEEN CREEPS!
The season comes to a close on this, the greatest day of the year. And we, here at streaming screams are dishing out tricks and treats as we close out the season!
First we start with the cult classic about the most Halloween town ever to Halloween on Halloween, with serial killers, werewolves, revenge-driven zombies, and the spirit of Samhain himself, Sam! This is a personal favorite of Glenn’s and the very definition of a cult classic:
Trick ‘r Treat
Then, we join an angsty teen metal-head as his quest for revenge against his bullies leads him to become the pawn of his devil-worshiping heavy metal rock idol hellbent on revenge against their mutual high school. Featuring a wonderful satirical performance by the pioneer of heavy metal, the Prince of Darkness himself, the immortal Ozzy Osbourne! We’ll raise the horns for:
Trick or Treat
Along the way we’ll talk about theater mishaps, being a better person, John Carpenter, how serial killers survive, awesome Halloween festival towns, teen angst, the singer from Flogging Molly, and the Satanic Panic.
So light up your jack-o-lantern, grab some candy, crank up the Black Sabbath and throw up those horns because we're going trick or treating on on this celebratory episode of STREAMING SCREAMS!

Your Hosts
Jessica and Glenn became roommates in 2011 and rapidly developed a friendship that they would both cherish and everyone else would just have to deal with. They've shared in each other's greatest joys, and helped each other survive times of tragedy and stress. Loud, boisterous, and easily excitable, they can often be either a great source of entertainment, or just a bit too much for everyone else in their lives when they get together.
They share a deep appreciation of horror movies, 90's industrial music, mosh pits and games.
Jessica is passionate about animals and works in cat rescue. She often has a lot of kittens in her home.
Glenn is passionate about music. He loves most genres he comes across, plays multiple instruments and has a vinyl collection of a size that can be best described as "irresponsible."
